TruePlate meal prep

Your details

What we hold, why we hold it, and how to get it back or have it deleted. No small print, because there is nothing here worth hiding in any.

Who is asking

TruePlate is TRUEPLATE LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17441569), with its registered office at 36a Chapel Lane, Liverpool, L37 4DU. The company is responsible for the details you give us, which makes it the data controller under UK data protection law. You can reach us at hello@trueplate.co.uk, and that address is a person rather than a ticketing system.

What we collect, and why

  • Your name. So a delivery has somebody's name on it and an email does not start “Hello”.
  • Your email address. To send you the week's menu before it goes public, and to confirm an order.
  • Your mobile number. A slot can open and be gone inside ten minutes. A text arrives in time and an email usually does not.
  • Your postcode. To work out whether we deliver to you. We ask for the postcode rather than asking which part of Liverpool you live in, because the postcode is the part that decides it.
  • How you found us. One optional question at your first order, and you can skip it. Most people arrive from a link on Instagram, and a link tells us nothing about where it was seen, so the only way to know what is working is to ask. Nothing depends on the answer and nothing changes if you would rather not give one.

We do not ask for anything else. There is no advertising pixel and nothing here follows you to other websites. The question above is the one thing we know that we did not work out for ourselves, and we only know it because you told us.

We would like to count visits, so we can see which pages people use and which ones lose them. That uses Google Analytics, and it only happens if you say yes when we ask. Say no and nothing is loaded, nothing is set and the site works exactly the same. You can change your mind by clearing this site's cookies, and we will ask again.

Three cookies, and that is the lot. One remembers whether you said yes or no, so we do not have to keep asking. One keeps a staff member signed in. The third is the Google Analytics one, and it exists only if you said yes.

What we are allowed to do with it

Putting your name down is you asking us to tell you about the menu, so consent is the basis for that, and you can withdraw it at any moment using the unsubscribe link on every message or by emailing us. Confirming an order you placed is a different thing: that one is necessary to give you what you paid for.

Who else sees it

As few as possible. The site and its database run on Amazon Web Services in London, email is sent through Amazon Simple Email Service, and texts about your order go through Amazon's SMS service, AWS End User Messaging. Card payments are handled by Stripe, who take the card details directly so that we never hold them.

Nobody buys this list, nobody rents it, and it does not go to anybody else. Your details stay in the United Kingdom.

How long we keep it

If you join the list and never order, we delete you after 24 months. That is long enough that somebody waiting for us to reach their street is still there when we do.

If you order, we have to keep the records behind that order for 6 years, because HMRC requires it. That is the one thing we cannot delete on request, and we would tell you so rather than quietly not doing it.

What you can ask us to do

  • See it. Ask for a copy of everything we hold on you and we will send it.
  • Correct it. Tell us what is wrong, or fill the form in again, which overwrites what was there.
  • Delete it. Ask and we will, apart from records of an order we are required to keep.
  • Stop the emails. The link at the bottom of every message, or email us. One is instant and the other is us doing it by hand the same day.

We answer within a month, usually a great deal sooner, and it costs nothing.

If we get it wrong

Tell us first and we will fix it. If you are not happy with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or on 0303 123 1113. You do not need our permission and we would rather you had the option than not.

This notice covers trueplate.co.uk. If we change it we will change the date here and say what changed.
